The Monroeville Area Chamber Foundation, a non-profit charitable 501(c)(3) organization, was established in the mid-1990’s with grant money from Bell Atlantic/Verizon to support educational efforts. At the time of its establishment, the educational efforts were particularly musically directed due to participation in the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s community concert series. With changes in the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s direction, that source of funding was eliminated, and the Monroeville Area Chamber Foundation’s current sources of dedicated revenue is from the Shred-it Community event held each April and the Job Fair and College Expo held each spring in conjunction with and at Community College of Allegheny County’s Boyce Campus (CCAC).
The Monroeville Area Chamber Foundation has provided support to area educators. In addition to token gifts of thanks, the Monroeville Area Chamber Foundation annually underwrites the publication of the Business Education Resource Directory, a listing of Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce members and supporters who are willing to assist area teachers by providing services such as job shadowing, internships, or classroom participation and materials relevant to their businesses.
In addition, the Monroeville Area Chamber Foundation provides small educational grants to support continuing education for local businesses which are members in good standing of the Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Donations to the Monroeville Area Chamber Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, are deductible to the extent permitted by IRS codes.
