As a business owner, manager or resident of the eastern suburbs, do you consider Monroeville as a visitor’s destination? Since 1987, the goal of VisitMonroeville has been to promote this area to the travel, trade show and convention industry as a prime location to host a great conference, meeting or expo. Donna Bour, the Interim Executive Director of VisitMonroeville has traveled frequently to Washington D.C., Las Vegas, California and Florida to meet and talk with show promoters and event planners of sporting, religious, corporate, music and consumer trade shows. According to Bour, “Monroeville offers an ideal location to host an event - with the 100,000 square foot newly remodeled Monroeville Convention Center, easy accessibility from the downtown Pittsburgh and the Turnpike and a robust mix of hotels, restaurants and retail shopping. Our staff works closely with the staff of the Monroeville Convention Center to market and promote the region as a low-cost, high-quality location.”

In addition to providing traditional meeting planning services and bringing events to our community, VisitMonroeville is also committed to working with our local businesses to help promote their products and services to visitors while they are here. “Every show, conference, business meeting and sporting event presents an opportunity for our local business and economy to benefit. Visitors eat at restaurants, shop in our retail stores and want to be entertained. They might need automotive services, be looking for a massage or haircut or need quick medical attention”, says Bour. “We are working hard over the next few months to really begin educating businesses on how VisitMonroeville can help them market and build their business by partnering with us.”

“Do you remember getting a MACC e-blast a couple of weeks ago asking you to sign up for e-mails from VisitMonroeville? We hope to build a network by providing information on current and upcoming events that will keep your business up-to-date and in the know of what is happening in Monroeville. If you missed it,” says Bour, “that’s ok, you can go to our website at: www.visitmonroeville.com or join our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/visitmonroeville.” Donna promises more information about VisitMonroeville will follow in the weeks and months ahead as they roll out a new campaign to promote the region.

Donna brings a host of experience and expertise to VisitMonroeville. She began her career in fundraising, sponsorship and event management. She has a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and Master’s degree in Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University. From August of 2008 to March 2010 Bour served as the Interim Executive Director of the CVB. During that time she oversaw a complete rebranding of the agency to promote and market the region. She returned in August of this year to help lead VisitMonroeville into their next stage of growth and development.

Donna has been actively involved with MACC, serving on the Celebrate Monroeville committee since its beginning in 2005, and on the Staff Appreciation Luncheon committee. She regularly attends monthly luncheons and Business After Hours when she is not traveling. This year she is looking forward to the B2B Expo in March and networking with MACC members and their businesses to get them involved with VisitMonroeville and share important information and upcoming events in Monroeville.
